Vacation Time

A funny thing to write, as we just got here!  We've actually had the the last few days off of Spanish school.  The first was for "Labor Day" (Thursday and Friday) and the second for - you guessed it - Cinco De Mayo (today).  So, we've tried to take advantage of the situation and explore our huge new city.  We took a bus to the city center, where there is a very old cathedral and other buildings.

We've taken lots of walks around our little neighborhood, slowly discovering what surrounds us. Sunday's are days when people get out and about it seems. Part of the road we live on, Tepeyac is closed for half the day for people to exercise. We hope to take advantage in the weeks to come. Here is a picture from our window 3 stories up.

We found a little park that is perfect for letting Gracie roam free.  She loves to pick up sticks she finds on the ground and walk around with them in her hands.  Funny girl! Like any big city there is little grass and greenery, so the park - which is about a 10 minute walk - is a great find. On Sunday we visited a church - "La Roca" - on the other side of town.  It was great to be around people who love Jesus and worship with them!

We are  looking forward to going back to class tomorrow.  We are excited about learning more and the teachers have been really good.  It is a great place to be! Please continue to pray that we are able to soak it all in.  Thanks to all who have posted!  It's great to hear from folks back home.  "El Senor te bendiga y te guarde..." (The Lord bless you and keep you...) Love ~ Jake, Renee and Gracie

Well, after a few days you probably needed a vacation!!!! HAHA! The pictures are awesome and I bet greenery is a little hard to find. It sure sounds like you are close to so much, exploring is going to be fun. Take advantage of it while you are there.
The last Alpha is on Wednesday, so we are all gearing up for a good dinner, did some of the shopping today and Jim will take care of the meat tomorrow. Several small groups are making the meal happen, which is great. It is so neat to get to know others in that way.
Take care and keep writing.
